We are using Kickstarter as our crowdfunding platform.

Kickstarter is all or nothing - if we don't raise the full amount, we won't get anything.

Our funding goal is to raise £6,000 by Wednesday 30 April 2025, 23:59 BST.

Why a tour?

Rich both in its character and in its history, this is a play with broad appeal, and we aim to inspire audiences around the country to discuss these historical figures.

Our audiences are theatre lovers, history lovers, feminists, students of History, Drama or English (the Tudor era is perennially on both the GCSE and A-Level syllabuses), and anyone who likes theatre that asks questions about established truths.

Why do we need your help?

We truly believe in who we are, what we do, and what we stand for, which is why we have each invested a vast amount of time and energy into BURN and Burnt Flamingo Productions so far.

But creating and producing theatre is expensive. Without your help (and if we don't reach our target), it will be even more challenging for us to be able to take the play on the road and bring it to as many locations and audiences as we would like.

Funding will contribute towards:

★ Paying actors and creatives

★ Rehearsal space

★ Costume, props, and set

★ Travel costs

From the writer, Lucy Beresford-Knox:

The events in BURN took place over 500 years ago, but the questions it asks are as relevant today as they have ever been. Stories, and histories, take on their own lives as they are told, retold, written and rewritten. This was true in the 16th century, and it is true now, in our own era of fast news.

This play asks audiences to confront the nuance of its characters and of a gender and power struggle. It invites them to question how history has been written, how stories are told and reputations are made and ruined. A rich and tense production, this is a historical play, but one that asks modern questions too.
